Jan Pörschmann is the Founder and Managing Partner of atares GmbH, the digital M&A boutique for tech-driven mid-market companies, and since July 2023 serves as Chairman of the German Mergers & Acquisitions Association (BM&A). With more than 25 years in growth capital and tech transactions, he has advised on 100+ tech-heavy, asset-light deals ranging from growth rounds to succession buy-outs, typically in the €10-250 million range.
A pioneer of deal-tech, Jan inspired the creation of Fintalo, a digital platform that streamlines every stage of the M&A lifecycle and is widely cited as a benchmark for data-driven transaction execution. Industry peers recognise him as a thought-leader in the digitalisation of M&A processes.
Before founding atares (formerly Proventis Partners) in 2001, Jan sat on the board of a bank-backed venture-capital firm and held senior corporate-development roles at 3M. He earned his degree in Business Administration from EBS European Business School, complemented by study periods in London and Buenos Aires.
Raised across Brazil, Portugal, Germany, Argentina, the UK and the USA, Jan brings a multicultural lens to cross-border deals. He is a regular guest lecturer at universities and a sought-after speaker at events such as M&A Excellence Days or the M&A Summit.
